STATEMENT
My work is an exploration into the concept that sound acts as a concrete representation of the being of humans, given the temporal impermanence and spatial ephemerality of both. I achieve this through soundscape and music composition and musical device invention, for listening, immersive installation, and interactivity.
BIOGRAPHY
Alessandro Maione is a composer, sound artist and multimedia artist based in Shelton Connecticut. He has received his BA in philosophy from Suffolk University. Most recently Alessandro, along with collaborator Henry Kunkel, won second place in Elsewhere’s Alumni show for their piece, CoffeeWalk: a piece for two sets of hands in Paonia, CO. Alessandro has shown work in Connecticut, Colorado, Massachusetts, and North Carolina, and has toured nationally playing music. He has been an artist in residence at Elsewhere Studios in 2018 with collaborator Henry Kunkel and taught a class at the School of the Alternative in Black Mountain, North Carolina on contact microphone construction and sound techniques. Alessandro is half of a sound and visual collaboration Two-Headed Virgo, with multimedia artist Chelsea Rowe. He has also done custom sound design for recording artist Derek Simpson. Alessandro operates a private sound and recording studio in Shelton, Connecticut.
